At Warp Technologies, we believe that diversity drives innovation. In honour of International Women’s Day 2025, we’re proud to launch our “Women at Warp” series. This collection of personal stories, career insights, and professional advice showcases the remarkable women on our team.

Why are we doing this? Despite strides in awareness, women still hold fewer than 30% of computing roles. By showcasing the experiences and achievements of our female colleagues, we aim to highlight critical contributions in technology, inspire future generations, and foster a more inclusive industry. These interviews celebrate challenges overcome, offer invaluable mentorship advice, and share what it’s really like to navigate a career in tech.

In this feature, we sit down with our Marketing Manager Vicky, who shares her journey from Kuwait to the UK, the importance of mentorship, and her vision for the future of women in tech. Vicky’s career proves that great things happen when you show up, overcome fears, and stay relentlessly dedicated to your values. Join us in learning from Vicky’s story and stay tuned for more interviews spotlighting the women who power Warp.

Embracing Change Builds Confidence

When Vicky relocated from Kuwait to the UK, she faced uncertainty about adapting to a different working culture and remote environment. Moving Kuwait, where most of the marketing community knew her, to the UK and building a network and reputation from scratch was intimidating. Her initial doubts faded as she consistently showed up, leaning into the unfamiliar until it became second nature. Confidence came with persistence, leading to greater accomplishments than she’d imagined.

“I worried about adapting, but I learned my fears were unjustified. Showing up daily built my confidence and at Warp I’ve found a place where I can thrive.”

Defining Success Through Impact

For Vicky, success has always been about positively impacting the world. This principle shaped her career in marketing and technology. While revenue generation and brand growth are important, what fuels her most is seeing tangible, meaningful change emerge from her efforts.

“It’s about wanting to have a positive impact on the world and feeling that your work matters.”

The Power of Mentorship

Having strong mentors was pivotal to Vicky’s growth. Early on, her boss Dana at the Canadian Embassy taught her what it means to be organised and professional. Later, at NBK, her mentor Rasha became a close friend and a source of strength and courage. Even now, as she collaborates with senior leaders like Natalie Bell, mentorship continues to expand her capabilities and sharpen her leadership skills.

“I’ve been really lucky to be mentored by some fantastic women…they taught me organisation, courage, grace, and adaptability.”

Balancing Work and Motherhood

Work–life balance can be challenging for any parent. For Vicky, making time for personal well-being is critical: going to the gym, taking walks, and enjoying the sea. These activities help her maintain perspective and sanity. She aims to be present wherever she is – fully engaged at work or fully engaged at home.

“As a mum, you’re always feeling guilty about something…I’ve learned to carve out time for myself by going to the gym and spending time outdoors.”

Addressing Bias in Marketing and Tech

Early in her marketing career, people often saw marketing as mere “creative fluff.” Over the years, data-driven strategies and the push for measurable ROI have shifted that perception, and Vicky actively champions the strategic value of marketing in tech. She also highlights the ongoing gender disparity in technology, acknowledging that women often have to work harder to gain the same level of respect in male-dominated fields.

“When you show up as a woman in tech, you often have to work harder to be taken seriously…there’s still a struggle for inclusivity.”

Pride in Current Work at Warp Technologies

As Head of Marketing at Warp Technologies, Vicky is most proud of helping transform a legacy business into a world-class organization. Her team’s efforts involve everything from internal communications to global PR strategies. This comprehensive role has broadened her scope and influence within the company and across the industry.

“Being part of the team that leads that change—taking a fantastic legacy and positioning it as world-class—is very exciting.”

The Future of Women in Tech

Vicky envisions a future in which women’s presence in STEM fields is natural and expected. She applauds organizations like Tech Women and Tech Girls for normalizing women’s roles in scientific and technical fields. Her advice to aspiring women in tech is simple: pursue your passion, find mentors, and ask for help when you need it.

“There are so many people willing to mentor, support, and open doors. If you love tech, go for it!”
